Does CASI’s asphalt facility close in the winter?
Our facility is open year round, except for an annual maintenance shutdown in winter (usually in January)
-
When does sealcoat season end and why?
CASI will sealcoat as long as the weather permits. Typically sealcoating can not be done when the ground temperature falls below 45 degree F, which in Colorado commences around mid October.
-
How quickly can CASI do my project?
Once CASI has been awarded a project, we schedule the job and provide you the schedule date. If your project requires the asphalt portion to be done at a certain time, please indicate this to our estimators and we will do everything we possibly can to accommodate your schedule.
- What type of work can we do “off season”?
CASI can perform both traditional patching (HMA) and infrared patching in the winter months. Patching is sometimes required where there is a severe pothole due to the freeze/thaw effect typical of Colorado weather. We can also do striping.
Typically, sealcoat and overlays require the ground temperature to be above 45 degrees: otherwise the asphalt or sealcoat does not cure properly and flaking can occur.
- What additional fees are not included in my bid?
We typically do not include testing, permit fees, traffic control, surveys, utility adjustments or bonds in our project bids. If these are required, please make sure to note this on your request for bid.
- What are the benefits of sealcoat?
Sealcoating is one of the most important elements of a pavement maintenance program. Sealcoat is a means of inhibiting pavement deterioration and needs to be applied on a regular basis, about every 2-3 years. Sealcoat not only beautifies the pavement, it also increases the pavement life. By increasing the flexibility of the asphalt sealcoat slows oxidation and water penetration, resists ultraviolet rays and reduces the effects of the freeze-thaw cycle. Sealcoat also resists gas and oil spills, making it easier to clean and maintain your pavement.
- Why do we not sealcoat immediately after we pave?
After paving, the asphalt needs time to cure; this typically takes six months to a year.
- Can I get an estimator out this afternoon and do the work in a couple of days?
CASI will try to get to your job as quickly as possible, but it depends on the type of work that needs to be done and what is already on our schedule. Typically the late spring and early fall are our busiest times of the year, and providing an immediate turnaround is not always feasible, since we have other projects already on our schedule.
- It’s only a 4 x 4. Why is it so expensive?
CASI’s minimum estimate is $625.00. This is to cover our costs of equipment, crews and transportation. CASI prides ourselves in the quality of work we do, whether it’s a new construction project or “only a 4x4 patch”.
- Why can’t you price it over the phone instead of coming to the job site?
Asphalt repair is subject to its surroundings. With so many variables and unknowns, we at CASI could not provide an accurate estimate of your project's needs. CASI provides you free estimates including reviewing the job in person to review the scope of work prior to any price work up. By reviewing the property, CASI estimators can provide you a detailed line item estimate and may offer cost saving alternatives which we could not do if we gave you a price sight (or "site") unseen.
