SEALCOAT
Sealcoating is one of the most important elements of a pavement maintenance plan because it slows pavement deterioration. Sealcoat, like all pavement maintenance, is a means of inhibiting pavement deterioration and needs to be applied on a regular basis; about every 2 to 3 years. Applied in thin coats (typically 2), sealcoating is used to protect off-highway pavement surfaces, such as parking lots, runways, service stations and heliports. BENEFITS: ► Beautification ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Sealcoating should only be performed under the proper weather conditions. The recommended air and pavement temperatures are at least 50 degrees F and rising during application of sealer and for 8 hours afterward. Sealcoating is not a replacement for asphalt: it’s only to protect it. If an area is in bad shape then replace the asphalt prior to sealcoating. Two applications are necessary to get the optimal results of sealcoating. Traffic should be kept off of a newly sealed surface for a minimum of 24 hours to allow for drying (curing) time. If this is not feasible, CASI can sealcoat in sections to minimize impact on traffic. After sealcoating, sprinklers should be turned off for a minimum of 48 hours after work is completed. Your lot should not be washed or hosed down within the first 48 hours, to ensure that curing is complete. |
